Eligibility Policy

As a member of the Dutch International Schools association, RISS follows guidelines as directed by the Dutch Ministry of Education concerning eligibility to the school:

  • Foreign students who will reside in the Netherlands temporarily while their parents are employed in the country;

  • Dutch nationals who have had at least 2 years of international education while their parents have had employment overseas;

  • Dutch nationals who are planning to be educated, for at least two years, overseas, due to their parent’s employment outside the Netherlands. (We require a notarised document from the employer confirming the overseas employment.)

The Dutch authorities have created a wider option for local Dutch students who wish to continue their senior years within an international context by allowing them to apply to Dutch international schools.

The conditions are as follows:

  • The school (RISS) is allowed to admit a student with Dutch nationality to the IBCP if the student has successfully passed the third year of HAVO and can prove that their level of English is adequate to follow education in the medium of English.
  • The school (RISS) is allowed to admit a student with Dutch nationality to the IBDP if the student has successfully passed the fourth year of VWO and can prove that their level of English is adequate to follow education in the medium of English.
  • The school (RISS) can make the final decision on admission.

Please note that RISS is not able to sponsor or provide visas for students.

Applying to Grades 10 and 12 (IGCSE & IBDP/IBCP programmes):
We can only accept students into Grades 10 and 12 if they have previously studied the IGCSE or IBDP/CP programme, and their subject package aligns with our offerings. If this applies to your child,  please provide details of their current subjects and syllabus codes (IGCSE), or their progress in CAS, EE and TOK (for IBDP) during the application process, so we can assess the possibility of a transfer.
