The Librarians and our PTA Library committee are working closely to build up a community around the Library and
the Media Center. At RISS, we think that a Library should be more than shelves and books, but rather be a “combination of people, places, collections and services that aid and extend learning and teaching”. Moreover, it is important that students still carry on reading on a regular basis, whether for leisure, pleasure or study.
Based on this shared vision, our committee works closely with our Librarians to make the Library become a constant live space accessible to students and families. During the academic year, we work on:
- supporting the book drive of the Heritage Language Committee (CAS Students)
- enriching the library collections and resources. A survey was issued to properly target the needs of students and expectations of families with regard to the content of the library funds.
- funding for new digital subscriptions (ie. New York Times)
- Friends of the Library: a number of parents who are supporting the Librarians, cover books, holiday decorating, etc.
