In addition to organising events and activities, the PTA is also involved in various projects in and around the school. Are you passionate to contribute to a good cause and simultaneously help students in their academic achievements? If so, join one of our projects.
The Green Roof Project was initiated by the PTA team with a shared goal to turn the empty roof terrace on the Junior Campus school building into a creative sustainable place with green roof plants, biology lab, recreational gym space which can benefit students in their academic activities, especially those connected to running eco projects and nurture the spirit of sustainable living.
The Green Roof team (GRP team) has been working extensively on creating the right concept of the vegetation that could fit the budget and maintenance aspect. The PTA hopes that the project will be in full swing next academic year (2024).
The Librarians and our PTA Library committee are working closely to build up a community around the Library and the Media Center. At RISS, we think that a Library should be more than shelves and books, but rather be a “combination of people, places, collections and services that aid and extend learning and teaching”. Moreover, it is important that students still carry on reading on a regular basis should it be for leisure, pleasure or study.
Based on this shared vision, our committee works closely with our Librarians to make the Library become a constant live space accessible to students and families. This academic year (2023-2024) we work on:
supporting the book drive of the Heritage Language Committee (CAS Students)
enriching the library collections and resources. A survey was issued to properly target the needs of students and expectations of families with regard to the content of the library funds.
funding for new digital subscriptions (ie. New York Times)
Friends of the Library: a number of parents who are supporting the Librarians, cover books, holiday decorating, etc.
