COMET Self-Image Training

We are happy to share information about a new training that will soon be available for students here at RISS. This training will help students build more self-confidence and learn to think in a positive way. The training dates are not confirmed yet, but we will plan
them once we know how many students are interested.

The training will be provided by Avant Sanare, an organisation that specialises in helping children, teenagers and adults to grow personally, and change their behaviour in a positive way.

What is COMET?
The COMET Self-Image Training will be provided for students from Grade 8 and up who find it hard to feel confident because of a negative self-image. This training is very helpful for students who often have negative thoughts and need support in thinking more positively and feeling better about themselves.

Students will learn to see themselves in a positive way, think positively, and practise how to give themselves positive feedback. This will help them feel stronger and more confident in their everyday lives.

How the Training Works
The training has eight sessions, each 45 minutes long. During these sessions, students will work with a professional from Avant Sanare on topics like positive thinking, seeing yourself in a better way, and practising positive attention. The method they use is called
COMET (Competitive Memory Training), which is part of a scientifically-backed intervention that helps people change negative thoughts and behaviours so they can feel better and more in control of their lives.

There will also be one session for parents, where you will get tips on how to help your child build self-confidence at home.

The Benefits
By the end of the training, students will know what they can do to feel more confident and in control of their lives. They will feel better and more capable of handling challenges.
