COVID-19 and IBDP Exams

Dear parents,

The IB is still keeping a close eye on the developments around Covid-19. At the current time IBO remains very clear that cancellation of exams is not an option. As was mentioned in the previous update: the school can - in conjunction with IBO - organize exams at an off-site venue, such as a nearby church or community centre.

The IBO is supporting schools that have been forced to close for two or more weeks by extending deadlines for internal assessment work and by giving students the opportunity to complete presentations through online platforms such as Skype or Google hangouts. The organization has set up procedures to facilitate timely and efficient communication. Schools have two means available to do so: contacting their assigned IB-manager, in our case Ms. Katrin Fox, or IB’s Adverse Circumstances team. Again, students who can’t sit for an exam due to the virus should contact the IB Lead or the school’s Principal immediately. They will then contact the IBO, which in turn will work with us to ensure the best possible outcome for the students. Unfortunately exact steps can’t be given at this time, as all approaches are handled on a case-by-case basis.

At RISS we keep checking for IBO updates on a daily basis. We know which steps we have to take to ensure our students are in the best possible place to perform well in these uncertain and unusual times. Should further news become available, we pass it along as soon as we can. Of course, you are always welcome to contact Ms. De Vries or Ms. du Plessis via email: mvs@wolfert.nl / lpl@wolfert.nl.

Kind regards,
Miranda de Vries
